A resident who spoke to our correspondent on condition of anonymity said the bandits, who arrived on two motorcycles and were heavily armed, infiltrated the area from neighbouring Katsina State.
According to the source, the bandits overpowered the family, shot Badamasi as he attempted to prevent them from taking his father, and whisked Yakubu who is a farmer away into the night.
He explained: “Lakwaya community shares a border with Malumfashi and Musawa Local Government Areas of Katsina State. The bandits attacked Kururawa village, which is about one kilometre before you get to Lakwaya.
“They invaded a private residence on Sunday night, abducted the elderly man, Alhaji Tsohuwa, and injured his eldest son when he tried to resist them. He has since been taken to the hospital for treatment.
“Our appeal is for the Kano State Government to establish a security base in the area to prevent future attacks.”
