$20 Billion Refinery Not a Source of US Tension, Says Dangote

Dangote Clarifies: Trump Has No Grievance Over Refinery, US Supplies Crude

…rumours suggested that Trump’s threat to strike locations in Nigeria allegedly targeting terrorists could be linked to the refinery.

Lagos, Nigeria — The iNews Times, President of Dangote Refinery, Alhaji Aliko Dangote, has dismissed claims circulating on social media that former United States President Donald Trump is unhappy with the establishment of Africa’s largest refinery, valued at $20 billion.

The rumours suggested that Trump’s threat to strike locations in Nigeria allegedly targeting terrorists could be linked to the petrolium plant, a narrative Dangote has firmly rejected.

Speaking to the press, Dangote emphasised that the United States has been a major supplier of crude oil to the refinery, calling the idea of US displeasure “baseless.”

“The US has been one of our major suppliers of crude, which is why when someone says Trump is not happy with our refinery, it’s not true,” he said.
“Trump is more than happy with our refinery, because on average for a year, we do not buy more than 100 million barrels from the US.”

The iNews Times reports that Dangote also highlighted the advantages of the petrolium plant for Nigerian consumers. He explained that citizens now have access to high-quality, locally refined petrol at lower prices, while fuel importers may continue to face losses.

“The availability of locally refined petrol gives consumers a clear choice between quality fuel sold at a lower rate and blended premium motor spirit (PMS) sold at higher prices by importers,” Dangote stated.

The industrialist stressed that the petrolium plant’s operations provide Nigerians with more affordable fuel options, marking a significant step toward reducing dependence on imported petroleum products.
