Cult War Resumes in Rivers, Claims Three Lives

...the cult members arrived in a speedboat, moved straight to the homes of their intended targets, and carried out the attacks.

PORT HARCOURT, NIGERIA— The iNews Times | A fresh cult clash over supremacy has left three people dead in Oyorokoto community, Andoni Local Government Area of Rivers State.

Sources said suspected cult members, while chasing rival groups, invaded the area in the early hours of Tuesday and attacked the community, known as the largest fishing settlement in the region, killing three persons.

A resident disclosed that the cult members arrived in a speedboat, moved straight to the homes of their intended targets, and carried out the attacks.

The latest incident comes amid a series of violent clashes, with one person reportedly killed in Ngo community on Monday and another in Unyegala on Sunday.

The renewed violence has heightened fear in the area, forcing some residents to flee the affected communities within the LGA.

Meanwhile, the Rivers State Police Command spokesperson, Superintendent Grace Iringe-Koko, had earlier confirmed the deaths of two persons in Ngo and Unyegala, attributing the incidents to an ongoing supremacy struggle between rival cult groups. She said security agencies are intensifying efforts to arrest those responsible but could not confirm the Oyorokoto killings as of press time.

The Chairman of the Obolo Youth Coalition, Rivers State chapter, Jonathan Enyina, also condemned the killings in a statement issued on Monday.
