Badaru Denies Defection, Reaffirms Loyalty to APC

…Badaru in his statement said,“I categorically state that the report is entirely false, unfounded, and a product of political mischief,”

ABUJA, NIGERIA- The iNews Times | Former Minister of Defence, Mohammed Badaru, has dismissed reports suggesting he plans to defect to the African Democratic Congress (ADC), describing the claims as false and speculative.

The defection rumours are believed to be linked to the ongoing political rift between Badaru and Jigawa State Governor, Umar Namadi, within the All Progressives Congress (APC). Party insiders say tensions between the two leaders have fuelled speculation, with claims that some of Badaru’s supporters feel sidelined in both government and party affairs in the state.

The internal disagreements within the Jigawa APC have reportedly led to broader rumours of possible defections, as some party members are said to be dissatisfied with the current political arrangement. However, his prompt rebuttal of the claims indicates his intention to reaffirm his loyalty to the party and possibly encourage reconciliation within its ranks.

In a statement personally signed by him and released on Tuesday through his media aide, Mati Ali, Badaru unequivocally denied any plan to leave the APC.

“I categorically state that the report is entirely false, unfounded, and a product of political mischief,” he said, stressing that his commitment to the party remains firm.

He added that he has no intention of leaving the APC, a party he helped to establish, and urged party members and the general public to disregard the rumours, reaffirming that his loyalty to the APC is “absolute and unwavering.”
