Brazilian Vice President arrives Nigeria

…Senator Hadejia describes the Brazilian delegates visit as “a pivotal moment in Nigeria’s Renewed Hope Agenda.

The iNews Times reports that the Brazilian Vice President Geraldo Alckmin and his wife, Maria Lúcia Alckmin, on Tuesday arrived in Nigeria for the Second Session of the Nigeria-Brazil Strategic Dialogue Mechanism (SDM).

The high-profile visit marks a significant moment in Nigeria’s South-South diplomatic engagement and is expected to yield substantial policy breakthroughs across multiple sectors.

Upon arrival at the Presidential Wing of Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, the Brazilian delegation was warmly received by top Nigerian government officials, including Senator Ibrahim Hassan Hadejia, Deputy Chief of Staff to the President; Dr. Jumoke Oduwole, Minister of Industry, Trade and Investment; Idi Mukhtar Maiha, Minister of Livestock Development; Senator Abubakar Kyari, Minister of Agriculture and Food Security; and other senior officials.

Welcoming the Brazilian delegates, Senator Hadejia described the visit as “a pivotal moment in Nigeria’s Renewed Hope Agenda.” He emphasized the strategic importance of deepening ties with Brazil, highlighting the potential benefits of South-South partnerships. “This dialogue mechanism represents our commitment to leveraging partnerships that deliver tangible benefits to our citizens,” Senator Hadejia said.

The 3-day summit is expected to culminate in the signing of over thirty Memoranda of Understanding across critical sectors, including defence cooperation, agricultural technology transfer, energy collaboration, and cultural exchange programmes.

Brazil’s expertise in agribusiness, energy transition, and industrial development aligns perfectly with Nigeria’s transformation priorities and the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

The visit is seen as a significant step towards strengthening bilateral relations between Nigeria and Brazil.

The strategic dialogue will provide a platform for both countries to explore areas of cooperation and identify opportunities for mutual benefit, The iNews Times reports.
