Atiku confirmed the move on Monday via his X account, posting a photo of himself holding an ADC membership card with the caption: “It’s official.”
The decision comes months after Atiku resigned from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in July, following a period of protracted internal crises within the party. His move to ADC formalises his long-discussed association with the coalition platform, which he had endorsed earlier as a vehicle for opposition figures, including Peter Obi and Babachir Lawal, to challenge President Bola Tinubu in 2027.
