‎BREAKING: Ogidi PG, Another Man Shot Dead in Suspected Cult Reprisal Attack

‎…security sources in Ogidi community describe the incident as a suspected cult-related reprisal attack

‎‎ANAMBRA, NIGERIA- The iNews Times | The President General of Ogidi community, Chief Ikwuka Okoye, and another unidentified man were shot dead late last night in what security sources in Ogidi community describe as a suspected cult-related reprisal attack by members of the Aye (Neo Black Movement, NBM).

‎The attack is believed to be connected to the recent death of Emma Amasco, a notorious NBM hit squad leader who reportedly died after being arrested by local security operatives in Ogidi.

‎Sources said Chief Okoye was not a cult member, but had allegedly been accused by NBM elements, alongside some local security personnel, of playing a role in Amasco’s arrest and subsequent death. The cult group was said to have issued threats of retaliation before the fatal attack.

‎Authorities have dismissed circulating rumours linking Amasco’s death to the Vikings (DNKI) cult group, stressing that his arrest and death were solely the result of a local security operation against a man widely described as a serial killer and hardened criminal.

‎Emma Amasco was reportedly arrested on Tuesday, February 3, while allegedly stealing at a residential complex, after earlier dispossessing victims of mobile phones valued at over ₦5 million. During interrogation, he allegedly confessed to killing 46 people, naming several victims, and claimed that most members of his gang were already dead.

‎Security sources further disclosed that Amasco sustained a gunshot injury to the leg during his arrest and later succumbed to his injuries.

‎Following the latest killings, fears are mounting over planned attacks on security operatives by cult groups, prompting renewed calls for decisive action against cultism across Anambra State.

‎As investigations continue, residents have been urged to remain calm while security agencies intensify efforts to restore peace in Ogidi and surrounding communities.

‎More details coming soon…
