Peter Obi gunshot attack scare in Edo as ex-governor escapes unharmed

…whisked away from the scene during the Peter Obi gunshot attack incident.

Benin City, Nigeria — The iNews Times | Presidential candidate of the Labour Party in the 2023 election, Mr. Peter Obi, has reportedly escaped a Peter Obi gunshot attack scare in Benin City, Edo State.

The former Anambra governor was said to be in the state for a party function when hoodlums invaded the venue and began shooting sporadically.

Confirming the incident, Obi’s media aide, Val Obienyem, said the hoodlums targeted Obi, who was immediately whisked away from the scene during the Peter Obi gunshot attack incident.

A short statement he circulated read: “At an African Democratic Congress event today, hoodlums invaded the venue and began shooting.

“They specifically chased the vehicle carrying Mr. Peter Obi to Chief John Onyegu’s house and continued their attack.

“This happened a few minutes ago. The situation remains chaotic, and those nearby are trying to ascertain whether Mr. Obi was wounded.”

Obienyem, who later updated reporters, however confirmed that his principal was safe and called for calm.

“There is no cause for alarm. Mr. Peter Obi is safe. He escaped unharmed,” he said.
