…says no extremist, secessionist, or violent group would be allowed to operate within Delta State.

Asaba, Nigeria – The iNews Times, operatives of the Delta State Police Command have arrested several suspects in connection with the alleged attack on police officers at the boundary between Akwukwu-Igbo and Ugbolu communities in Oshimili North Local Government Area of the state.

This was disclosed in a statement issued by the Police Public Relations Officer of the command, SP Bright Edafe, who confirmed that the suspects are currently in police custody.

According to SP Edafe, the arrests followed the attack on officers of the command on Saturday, January 31, after which the Commissioner of Police, Delta State Command, CP Aina Adesola, ordered the immediate deployment of operatives to the affected area to restore order and reassure residents.

He explained that a swift police response led to a sting operation, during which some suspects connected to the incident were apprehended.

“The suspects are presently in custody and have provided useful information that is aiding ongoing investigations,” the police spokesperson said.

SP Edafe further noted that the Commissioner of Police issued a stern warning, stressing that unprovoked attacks on police officers will not be tolerated under his leadership.

He added that CP Adesola made it clear that no extremist, secessionist, or violent group would be allowed to operate within Delta State, assuring that the command would deal decisively with any individual or group threatening public peace or attacking law enforcement personnel.

The police also reassured residents of the command’s commitment to public safety, the rule of law, and the protection of lives and property, urging the public to remain calm and cooperate with security agencies.

Residents were encouraged to provide credible information that could lead to the arrest of other suspects still at large through the Police Control Room on 0803 668 4974 or other appropriate channels.
