UNIZIK Student jumps from Building

…the deceased and his roommate allegedly consumed hard drugs before jumping off the building

The iNews Times reports that a male student of Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka, Anambra state has reportedly died after jumping from a three-storey building in Ifite-Awka.

The incident was said to have occurred at about 8:00pm on Thursday at his lodge located near Royal Kitchen junction, close to the university gate.

The deceased whose identity is yet to be known pending notification of his family was said to have consumed hard drugs.

Residents said they heard a loud noise and rushed out to find the victim’s body lying critically injured in a pool of blood.

“When we checked his room, we discovered his roommate in an incoherent state, allegedly under the influence of the same substances both had taken earlier,” one of the neighbors who preferred anonymity said.

The neighbors further revealed that the deceased was immediately rushed to a nearby hospital where he was confirmed dead.

“His roommate is currently in police custody and will be questioned as soon as he stabilizes,” he added.

Our Correspondent gathered that authorities are working to reach the deceased’s family while investigations continues.
