ENUGU, NIGERIA – The iNews Times | Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, has hailed the Federal Government’s newly established Oncology Centre in Enugu as a world-class health facility, describing it as a shining example of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s commitment to delivering life-changing infrastructure to Nigerians.

Speaking in Enugu on Thursday while leading a high-powered delegation to inspect the centre, the minister said the facility represents a major milestone in Nigeria’s cancer treatment capabilities. Commissioned only weeks ago by the Ministers of Health and Finance, the centre boasts one of the most advanced cancer treatment machines in the world, previously available only abroad or in Lagos.

Idris noted that under the Renewed Hope Agenda, the Tinubu administration is bringing top-tier healthcare to all regions of the country. Six oncology centres are planned nationwide, with three already operational.

During the inspection, the delegation interacted with patients, including a woman who previously had to travel long distances for treatment but can now receive high-quality care in Enugu.

“This is democracy delivering tangible dividends. Our visit allows us to hear directly from citizens, see the impact for ourselves, and ensure these facilities are maintained for public benefit,” Idris said.

The tour also covered several ongoing federal road projects in the state.

As part of the two-day Citizens’ Engagement Series and FG Projects Tour of the South East, the minister paid a courtesy visit to Enugu State Governor, Dr. Peter Mbah. There, he reaffirmed that no part of Nigeria would be excluded from the nation’s development agenda.

“The Tinubu administration is committed to ensuring that no region is left behind in Nigeria’s development drive. What we are seeing in Enugu-modern roads, upgraded schools, improved public facilities, is proof that President Tinubu’s policies are translating into real benefits for the people,” he added.
