Osita Chidoka speaks on fatherhood

…Chidoka emphasizes that fatherhood extends far beyond biological ties.

As the world celebrates Father’s Day, Former Minister of Aviation and Chancellor of the Athena Centre, Osita Chidoka shares a poignant reflection on the essence of fatherhood, iNews Times reports.

In a heartfelt message, Chidoka emphasizes that being a father extends far beyond biological ties, encompassing a profound responsibility to promote, protect, and preserve life.

“Fatherhood is beyond siring children,” Chidoka writes. “It is nature’s sacred responsibility—bestowed on all species—to promote, protect, and preserve life.”

He highlights the significance of fatherhood as a call to duty, requiring individuals to shield, provide, and transmit hopes, fears, and aspirations to future generations.

Chidoka emphasized the gravity of the role, citing the iconic novel “Things Fall Apart” by Chinua Achebe: “That boy calls you father. Do not bear a hand in his death.”

This powerful quote serves as a reminder of the immense responsibility that comes with being a father, emphasizing the need to nurture and protect children.

“To abuse power… To appropriate the commonwealth for selfish ends… To deprive others of life or dignity in pursuit of personal gain… is to reject the essence of fatherhood,” Chidoka warns. “The consequences stretch beyond generations.”

Chidoka’s message also touches on the divine nature of fatherhood, drawing parallels with scriptural declarations.

“For fatherhood is not only biological,” he notes. “It is divine. It is written into the order of all creation.”

He references the scripture, “You shall be a father of nations,” underscoring the profound impact that fathers can have on their families and communities.

As we celebrate Father’s Day, Chidoka’s words serve as a poignant reminder of the importance of responsible fałherhood.

His reflection encourages fathers to rise above self-interest, drawing from the “deep well of manhood” to stand unflinching in their commitment to their families, iNews Times reports.
