…Fayose alleged that Makinde took control of prime lands in Oyo State,
EKITI, NIGERIA- The iNews Times | Former Ekiti State Governor Ayodele Fayose has accused Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde of abusing power and weakening the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the South-West.
Speaking during an interview on TVC, Fayose alleged that Makinde took control of prime lands in Oyo State, a move he said alienated many of those who supported his emergence as governor.
According to him, most of the individuals who worked for Makinde’s rise to power have since been sidelined. “Almost everyone who laboured for his emergence has been pushed out,” he claimed.
He further accused the Oyo State governor of dismantling the party’s structure across the region, insisting that PDP structures in the South-West had been destroyed under Makinde’s influence.
Fayose also raised concerns about the party’s internal processes in Osun State, alleging that a candidate who did not purchase a PDP nomination form eventually emerged as the party’s flagbearer.
Recounting a personal experience, Fayose claimed he was attacked during a political event in Osun State, alleging that the incident was orchestrated by Makinde. He dismissed the governor’s political stature, describing him as inexperienced.
On his own political standing, Fayose described himself as an elder statesman, stressing that he governed Ekiti State independently without the backing of a political godfather.
“I fought for my governorship without a godfather,” he said.
He also declared his loyalty to the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, stating that his political alignment remains with Wike wherever he stands.
Fayose concluded by reaffirming his commitment to the PDP, saying he would never defect to the All Progressives Congress (APC).
