…says, FAAN will work with KWAM 1 with a view to engaging him as an ambassador for proper airport security protocol.
ABUJA, NIGERIA – The iNews Times | The Federal Government has reduced the flight ban imposed on Fuji music legend Wasiu Ayinde, popularly known as KWAM 1, to one month and appointed him as an ambassador for airport security protocol.
Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo, announced the decision on Wednesday, saying the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) and the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) would collaborate with the musician to promote proper conduct within Nigeria’s aviation facilities.
“The NCAA is to reduce his flight ban to a one-month period. FAAN will also work with the music star with a view to engaging him as an ambassador for proper airport security protocol going forward,” Keyamo said.
The sanction followed KWAM 1’s controversial behaviour at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja, which drew public attention and disciplinary measures from aviation authorities.
Keyamo disclosed that the NCAA had also agreed to withdraw its criminal complaint against the artist, citing his public expression of remorse over the incident.
“Having publicly demonstrated penitence, the NCAA is also to withdraw its criminal complaints against KWAM 1 earlier lodged with the police,” the minister added.
The engagement is expected to turn the episode into a teachable moment for the travelling public, with KWAM 1 now serving as a visible advocate for adherence to airport security procedures.
