DELTA, NIGERIA- The iNews Times | The Delta State Police Command has announced the arrest of a herder accused of fatally stabbing his brother in Ogwashi-Uku community, Aniocha South Local Government Area.
Police Public Relations Officer, Mr. Bright Edafe, said the victim was attacked while asleep and noted that the suspect is believed to be a drug user.
According to Edafe, “On January 8, 2025, at around 0731 hours, a report was received at Ogwashi-Uku Division that at approximately 0320 hours on the same day, a 20-year-old man, Umaru Haman, was stabbed to death while asleep along Poly Road, near Adaigbo Filling Station.
“Following the report, the Divisional Police Officer, CSP Israel Okoyomon, quickly deployed detectives to the scene. Preliminary investigations indicate that the deceased was allegedly attacked by his brother, Aliyu Haman, also 20, a herder and suspected drug addict. The suspect was immediately apprehended, and the weapon used was recovered.
“The body has been taken to Odua Mortuary, Ogwashi-Uku, for autopsy. The suspect remains in custody, and investigations are ongoing.”
