“I leave Tottenham as a man,” Heung-min Son said. “Thanks to all the Spurs fans who’ve given me so much love.

LONDON – The iNews Times reports that the Tottenham Hotspur captain Heung-min Son has officially announced his departure from the club, ending a remarkable ten-year spell in North London.

The South Korean international made the revelation during a press conference on Saturday ahead of Spurs’ pre-season friendly against Newcastle United at the Seoul World Cup Stadium.

Speaking alongside Tottenham manager Thomas Frank, Son, 33, said the decision was not an easy one but insisted the time was right for a new challenge.

“I leave this club as a man,” Son said. “Thanks to all the Spurs fans who’ve given me so much love. The main reason is I’ve achieved everything I can at the club, and I need a new environment for a fresh challenge.”

Son joined Spurs in 2015 from German side Bayer Leverkusen and quickly established himself as a fan favourite, known for his speed, sharp finishing, and relentless work ethic.

His decade at the club was marked by personal milestones and standout performances, though major team silverware largely eluded him, until May this year, when he helped Spurs clinch the UEFA Europa League title with a 1–0 win over Manchester United in the final.

Speculation has been growing over Son’s next destination, with Major League Soccer side Los Angeles FC heavily linked with a move for the forward.

While no official confirmation has been made, reports suggest negotiations are already underway.

As the curtain falls on his Tottenham career, Son leaves behind a legacy as one of the club’s greatest-ever players and a global ambassador for the sport.
