ABUJA, NIGERIA – The iNews Times | The Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, has approved the appointment of Chief Superintendent of Police (CSP) Benjamin Hundeyin as the new Force Public Relations Officer (FPRO), marking a significant change in the communications leadership of the Nigeria Police Force.
The announcement was made in a statement on Thursday by the outgoing FPRO, Olumuyiwa Adejobi, who described Hundeyin as a seasoned professional with strong academic and operational credentials.
“The Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, NPM, PhD, has approved the appointment of CSP Benjamin Hundeyin as the new Force Public Relations Officer,” the statement read.
Hundeyin is an alumnus of Lagos State University, where he earned a BA in English, and holds a Master’s degree in Legal Criminology and Security Psychology from the University of Ibadan. His professional training includes a Certificate in Civil-Military Coordination from the Martin Luther Agwai International Leadership and Peacekeeping Training Centre in Jaji, Kaduna State.
He is also a member of several professional bodies, including the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR), the International Public Relations Association (IPRA), and the Chartered Institute of Personnel Management of Nigeria (CIPM).

He was also the spokesperson at the Zone 2 Command Headquarters in Onikan, Lagos, and part of Nigeria’s contingent to the United Nations peacekeeping mission in Darfur, Sudan (UNAMID) in 2020. He also held an administrative role at the Force Public Relations Department at the Force Headquarters in Abuja.
The Inspector-General, according to the statement, has charged Hundeyin to build upon the gains of his predecessor and ensure a more effective relationship between the Police and the public.

Meanwhile, Adejobi has been redeployed as the Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of Operations at the Delta State Police Command. His redeployment was confirmed on Wednesday and reflects what the Force leadership described as confidence in his experience and operational competence.
In a post on his official X handle, Adejobi stated: “The posting reflects the confidence of the Force leadership in his extensive experience, professionalism, and ability to enhance operational strategies within the Command.”
Adejobi, widely regarded as the most visible and media-savvy FPRO in recent years, gained popularity for transforming the Force’s public image, particularly through social media engagement and proactive crisis communication.
His exit from the national communications role comes amid increased public scrutiny of police activities in Delta State, a region where his operational expertise may soon be put to the test.
