Oko Polytechnic Rector, Chioma Awuzie meets CP Orutugu

…as CP Orutugu seeks greater cooperation from the Polytechnic management.

The iNews Times reports that the Anambra state Commissioner of Police, Ikioye Orutugu has solicited greater cooperation from the Management of the Federal Polytechnic Oko following indiscriminate shooting in the area that claimed lives and injured others.

Orutugu made the call while receiving the Rector of the Federal Polytechnic Oko, Dr. Mrs Chioma Awuzie and Head of Federal Establishments in the State, Mr. Chijoke Okechukwu in his office at the State Police Command, Awka.

He regretted the unfortunate incident, of 19th June 2025 which according to an eyewitness account revealed how armed criminals operating with motorcycle and black Lexus 350 SUV without plate number, started shooting indiscriminately at the Total junction wounding four persons including a lady.

“The hoodlums abducted two other people at the Tipper junction before they fled the scene.

The meeting, no doubt, demonstrates our proactive approach to security and community engagement.

“We seek greater cooperation from the Management of the Polytechnic to help us serve them better,” he said.

In their separate responses, the Poly Rector and Head of Federal Establishments thanked the Police for their prompt response at the scene of the incident as it prevented further loss of life and properties.

They pledged to assist the Police to step up surveillance and provide necessary information for security agencies especially in the ongoing investigation of the incident.

“We intend to jointly develop plans and address specific security challenges in Oko and especially around the Polytechnic and other Federal Government facilities in the State,” they said.

In attendance at the meeting were Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of Operations, Assistant Commissioner of Police in charge of Criminal Investigations Department, Assistant Commissioner of Police in charge of the State Intelligence Department and other senior Officers.

Highlight of the meeting included the presentation of Gift to the Rector by the CP.
