NNEWI, Nigeria — The iNews Times | Chinedu Anyaso, Chairman of the Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria (IPMAN), Enugu Depot Community, has formally declared his intention to contest for the seat of Nnewi North/Nnewi South/Ekwusigo Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives.
Chinedu Anyaso, a chieftain of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), made the declaration at his home in Ekwulummili Community, Nnewi South Local Government Area of Anambra State.
He announced his intention in the presence of the leadership and stakeholders of APGA in Ekwulummili Ward.
Anyaso said he was motivated to enter the contest by the desire to complement the efforts of the APGA-led government in Anambra through effective representation at the National Assembly.
He commended Governor Chukwuma Soludo for what he described as visionary leadership and development strides in Anambra, noting that the achievements had made APGA the party of choice for many households in the state.
Anyaso promised to provide federal legislative support that would enable the Soludo administration to further explore and develop the economic potential of the constituency, particularly in trade and commerce, industrialisation and agriculture.
“I want to announce my intention to contest for the seat of Nnewi North/Nnewi South/Ekwusigo Federal Constituency in the National Assembly in 2027 on the ticket of APGA.
“I am going to be your voice in the House of Representatives. I will complement the efforts of Governor Chukwuma Soludo to address ecological challenges in our constituency.
“Having served marketers in Anambra, Ebonyi and Enugu states, as well as members in parts of Abia, Imo, Kogi and Benue states for two successful terms, I am making myself available for the service of this federal constituency,” Chinedu Anyaso said.
Chairman of APGA in Ekwulummili Ward, Mr Cosmas Ezeani, said members of the party were delighted by the declaration of Chinedu Anyaso, whom he described as a strong pillar of the party in the ward and beyond.
Ezeani noted that the party was proud of Anyaso’s contributions and expressed confidence in his capacity to represent the constituency effectively, assuring him of their full support.
Also speaking, Chief Akai Egwuonwu, an APGA chieftain, described Chinedu Anyaso as a purposeful and goal-driven individual with the required qualities to serve the constituency.
Egwuonwu, who is aspiring to represent Anambra South Senatorial District, urged members of Ekwulummili Ward to give Anyaso maximum support while also encouraging him to build bridges across the constituency for a successful outing.
He pledged to support Anyaso’s aspiration and reminded party members that the party remained supreme in all decisions.
Chief Nwankwo Onyekwere, who spoke on behalf of petroleum marketers, said members of IPMAN were in solidarity with Chinedu Anyaso, noting that his leadership had brought vision and direction to the union.
“We are here to show our support for our chairman. He is a good man whose leadership brought peace and unity in IPMAN, and that is why he had the rare privilege of serving two terms.
“He is not selfish or greedy. He has the spirit to work for the common good and the capacity to bring victory and represent the constituency very well. We plead with you to support him,” he said.
Other stakeholders present at the event included Chief Sunny Ozobialu, Chukwuma Agbasimalo, Chinenye Ezeifedikwa, the Ward Woman Leader, and Vinatius Okeke, the councillor representing Ekwulummili Ward, among others.
