The iNews Times reports that operatives of the Anambra State Police Command have arrested two suspects allegedly involved in the kidnapping and murder of a female bank manager, Ifeoma Onyekwelu in Onitsha.

The suspects, Monday Egbe, 32, and Kenneth Nnoga, 28, were apprehended on May 28, 2025, after police operatives trailed them to their hideout in a neighboring state.

According to the state’s Police Public Relations Officer, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, the incident occurred on January 13, 2025, when the bank manager’s lifeless body was found along Nnobi Road with her eyes tied.

The abductors had collected a ransom of N14 million from the victim’s family before murdering her.

The police command said the suspects are currently undergoing interrogation to gain more insights into their modus operandi and to possibly arrest other gang members.

The Commissioner of Police, CP Ikioye Orutugu, assured that the command will continue to protect lives and properties in Anambra State and ensure that all cases are followed to their logical conclusion to serve justice.

The police command’s swift action in this case demonstrates its commitment to tackling crime and ensuring the safety of residents in the state.
