Police Sack DPO over Mandykiss video

…Mandykiss was seen in a video recording herself and taking photographs with the detained mother and daughter.

ONDO, NIGERIA – The iNews Times | The Divisional Police Officer of Enu-Owa Division in Ondo West Local Government Area has been redeployed following his alleged unprofessional conduct in handling a case involving social media influencer, Mandykiss.

The Ondo State Commissioner of Police, Adebowale Lawal, approved the DPO’s sanction after a viral video showed the influencer having access to suspects in police custody – a move described as “highly unprofessional and unethical.”

According to reports, Mandykiss, whose real name is yet to be confirmed, stormed Ondo town days ago to facilitate the arrest of a woman, Sabitu Akinwole, and her daughter, Oyindamola Akinwole, accusing them of cyberbullying her online.

In the viral footage, the influencer was seen recording herself and taking photographs with the detained mother and daughter, sparking widespread public outrage.

Police investigations later revealed that no officer from the Enu-Owa Division accompanied Mandykiss during the arrests. Instead, she was allegedly assisted by her social media followers, who helped locate the suspects before bringing them to the police station.

Confirming the development, the Police Public Relations Officer, Funmilayo Odunlami-Omisanya, said:

“The action of the Command became necessary after a video surfaced online showing the said influencer recording and taking snapshots of suspects while in police custody at Enu-Owa Division. The incident, which generated widespread public concern, prompted a swift internal review by the Command.”

She added that the Commissioner viewed the DPO’s conduct as “an embarrassment to the Force” and approved his immediate redeployment pending further disciplinary procedures.

The Ondo State Police Command assured the public that appropriate internal measures are being taken to maintain professional standards and restore public confidence in the Force.
