…Maresca emphasized that recovery and energy restoration are Chelsea’s top priorities.
London, United Kingdom — The iNews Times | Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca has directed his players to completely switch off and rest for 48 hours ahead of their crucial Premier League clash with Arsenal on Sunday. The Italian coach issued the instruction following Chelsea’s emphatic 3–0 Champions League victory over Barcelona on Tuesday night.
Speaking after the win, Maresca emphasized that recovery and energy restoration are Chelsea’s top priorities before returning to preparations for the Arsenal showdown at Stamford Bridge.
“I have told the players, next 48 hours, completely switch off. Have a rest. Recover the energy,” Maresca said in his post-match briefing. “Because on Sunday we have Arsenal. My message after the game was just: recover the energy. That, in this moment, is the most important thing.”
He added that training for the derby will resume on Friday: “Then, on Friday, we start to think about Arsenal. We need to keep the momentum because it’s very nice and it is much easier to recover energy when you win games.”
