…Minnesota Governor Tim Walz, said the attack on Senator Hoffman and his wife occurred around 2 A.M.
The iNews Times reports that a tragic incident unfolded in Minnesota on Saturday, June 14, 2025, when two state lawmakers were attacked in what authorities are calling a “targeted political attack”.
It was learnt that state Representative Melissa Hortman and her husband were fatally shot at their home, while State Senator John Hoffman and his wife were shot multiple times but survived the assault.
According to Minnesota Governor Tim Walz, the attack on Senator Hoffman and his wife occurred around 2AM local time at their home in Champlin. Both Hoffman and his wife underwent surgery and are currently recovering.
Governor Walz expressed cautious optimism about their survival, stating that doctors are hopeful for their recovery.
The suspect, described as a white male wearing a police uniform, badge, and carrying a Taser, fired at police officers who responded to a call at Representative Hortman’s home in Brooklyn Park around 3:35AM.
The individual retreated into the residence after exchanging gunfire with the officers. Authorities believe the suspect may have impersonated a law enforcement officer.
An extensive manhunt is underway, involving hundreds of officers and SWAT teams. The Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension, along with the FBI, is actively engaged in the investigation.
Several individuals have been detained for questioning, but no arrests have been made yet.
Governor Walz described the incident as a “deliberate act of political violence” and condemned the attack.
“Such acts of violence have no place in our society,” he emphasized.
US President Donald Trump also weighed in on the incident, stating that the attack appears to be a “targeted attack against state lawmakers” and that such violence will not be tolerated in the United States.
Residents in the Brooklyn Park area have been advised to shelter in place until the suspect is apprehended.
The police department has cautioned citizens not to answer their doors unless two officers are present, and to verify the identity of law enforcement officers by calling 911, iNews Times reports.
