…says outgoing director contributed significantly to repositioning the National Orientation Agency.

Awka, Nigeria — The iNews Times reports that history was made on Wednesday at the Anambra State Directorate of the National Orientation Agency (NOA) as Barrister Ifeoma Evangeline Chijioke emerged the first female Acting Director of the agency in the state since its establishment in 1993.

Chijioke took over from the outgoing State Director, Edozie Ajaegbu, during a brief handover ceremony held at the Agency’s headquarters.

In her acceptance speech, the new Acting Director appreciated Ajaegbu for what she described as his impactful leadership, noting that he contributed significantly to repositioning the National Orientation Agency in the state.

“Mr. Ajaegbu did his best towards taking the agency to greater heights. I know that today he has handed over the baton to me,” she said.

She appealed to the management and staff of the agency to support her leadership, emphasizing unity and teamwork as key to progress.

“If they leave the ball for me alone and I have nobody to pass it to, I will not be able to play the ball. A tree cannot make a forest. My prayer is that united we can move this great establishment to the next level,” she added.

In his farewell remarks, Ajaegbu described his three-year tenure as State Director as a wonderful experience, commending the staff for their cooperation and professionalism.

He urged the management and staff to extend the same support to his successor to enable her succeed in her new role.

“We worked together towards moving Nigeria to greatness and that was our intention. I have no doubt you will extend the same relationship to my successor,” he said.

Describing the National Orientation Agency as a vital institution in a developing country like Nigeria, Ajaegbu expressed confidence that with improved funding, the agency would continue to serve as a catalyst in promoting national development.

He noted that during his tenure, the state directorate implemented programmes initiated by the National Orientation Agency headquarters in Abuja, alongside state-driven initiatives and collaborative engagements with federal establishments and non-governmental organisations.
