…as family holds memorial for Nnamdi Kanu’s parents.
Afaraukwu, Nigeria | The iNews Times | The family of detained Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) leader, Nnamdi Kanu, has revealed that he predicted his imprisonment in Sokoto years ago, describing it as a sign that the realization of Biafra was imminent.
The disclosure was made on February 14 during a burial memorial held at the Kanu family compound in Afaraukwu, Abia State, to mark the anniversary of the burial of his parents, His Royal Majesty Eze Israel Okwu Kanu and Ugoeze Kanu.
Speaking at the event, Kanu’s younger brother and family spokesman, Prince Emma Kanu, said the IPOB leader had long foretold that his presence in Sokoto would signal the achievement of Biafra.
“Many years ago, Nnamdi Kanu said that any day he gets to Sokoto, we should know that the achievement of Biafra has come,” Prince Emma stated.
Memorial for Nnamdi Kanu’s Parents
Kanu’s parents died in October 2017 following a military operation at their residence under Operation Python Dance. They were buried on February 14, 2020.
The memorial, organized by Biafra veterans under the aegis of the Great Great Concerned Elders (GGCE), drew supporters who reiterated calls for Nnamdi Kanu’s unconditional release.
‘He Believes in Dialogue, Not Violence’
Prince Emma described his brother as a peaceful advocate of self-determination.
“Mazi Kanu believes in dialogue, not in guns and bullets; and until he comes out from prison, the family will not rest,” he said.
He further alleged that those responsible for Kanu’s incarceration “have not had peace since then.”
At the graveside of their late parents, members of the family offered prayers and poured libation, invoking divine intervention against what they described as conspiracies against Kanu and the Biafra cause.
“Those who conspired against this family, against Nnamdi Kanu, against Biafra, heaven and earth will be against you,” Prince Emma declared.
Calls for Federal Government to Release Nnamdi Kanu
Several speakers at the memorial, including Col. Vincent Okey (Port Harcourt), Uzoamaka Ejezie, Cohen David Sunday Onuoha (Founder of Eastern Judaism), Ihediohanma Nwokojie (General Commander of all Biafran Veterans), and Elder Where Agonsi Onwu, said the gathering was to honour the deceased and reaffirm commitment to the Biafra struggle.
They urged supporters not to relent and called on the Federal Government to release Kanu unconditionally.
A clergy member of Jehovah Elohim Evangelical Ministry, Evangelist Nnamdi Obike, also addressed the gathering.
“Nnamdi Kanu years ago prophesied that the struggle will end in Sokoto and now he is in Sokoto. Everything he said has happened. Kanu is coming out this year and he is coming out with something,” he said.
