…Obi’s 2027 presidential ambition also received backing from party leaders,
ANAMBRA, NIGERIA- The iNews Times | Peter Obi, the Labour Party’s presidential candidate in the 2023 general election, has officially registered with the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Anambra State, completing his membership process in his hometown of Agulu, Anaocha Local Government Area.
Also confirming his membership is Victor Umeh, who represents the Anambra Central Senatorial District. He obtained his membership card in his hometown of Aguluzigbo.
The registration exercise was witnessed by prominent party stakeholders, including Ben Obi; the ADC National Organising Secretary, Chinedu Idigo; Afam Ogene; Peter Anekwe; and Lilian Orogbu.
Others present included the party’s candidate in the November 2025 Anambra governorship election, John Nwosu, his running mate Ndubuisi Nwobu, as well as hundreds of party members and supporters.
Prior to the registration exercise, about 48,900 membership cards had been distributed to party leaders across the state’s 21 local government areas for onward distribution to the 326 wards to boost grassroots mobilisation.
Speaking at the event, party leaders called for an intensive membership drive to strengthen the ADC’s structure and also expressed support for Obi’s 2027 presidential ambition. Senator Umeh noted that Anambra has about 2.8 million registered voters and urged them to rally behind Obi in the forthcoming election.
Meanwhile, the ADC National Organising Secretary, Idigo, assured members that additional membership cards would be supplied by the party’s national headquarters to accommodate the increasing number of intending members.
