Ogboji Massacre: Anambra Govt, Police Condemn Attack, Vow to Bring Perpetrators to Justice

Anambra Govt condemns killing of 10 people in Ogboji, as Police vows to hunt down perpetrators

Anambra government, police condemn Ogboji massacre

…the government assures the people of Ogboji and the entire state that it will do everything possible to ensure justice is served.

The iNews Times reports that the government of Anambra State has condemned the killing of innocent lives in Ogboji, Orumba South Local Government Area.

A statement released by the Commissioner for Information, Dr Law Mefor condemned the act and extended its heartfelt condolences to the families of the victims.

“We want to assure the good people of Anambra and beyond that this incident was not targeted at any particular state or ethnic group. Preliminary investigations suggest that the unfortunate incident may have stemmed from an internal squabble.

“The government expects the police command to conduct a thorough investigation, identify the perpetrators of this heinous crime, and bring them to justice. The government assures the people of Ogboji and the entire state that we will do everything humanly possible to ensure justice is served.”

He urged all residents to remain calm and cooperate with security agencies to ensure the perpetrators are apprehended and promised to work tirelessly to maintain peace and security in our great state.

On it’s own part, the Anambra State Police Command condemned the indiscriminate shooting incident that resulted in fatal injuries and fatalities to ten persons on the evening of 30th June, 2025, at Ogboji, Orumba South Local Government Area.

A statement released by Police Spokesman Toochukwu Ikenga assured that the Command shall hunt down the perpetrators and bring them to justice.

“The armed criminals came in two Sport Utility Vehicles (SUV) and attacked the gathering of a group unprovokedly, shooting sporadically. The victims were rushed to the Hospital and regrettably, 10 (ten) people were confirmed dead. The bodies have been deposited in the morgue.”

Already, the Police – led security team has taken over the scene and are working on necessary information to arrest the preparators.
