…Onyekaonwu’s emergence as sole candidate was a unanimous decision.

AWKA, NIGERIA – The iNews Times reports that Hon. Chijioke Onyekaonwu has emerged as candidate of the Action Alliance (AA) for the August 16, 2025 Anambra South Senatorial District by-election.

The peaceful and transparent primary election was conducted by the party’s primary electoral committee and closely monitored by officials from Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

Onyekaonwu’s emergence as sole candidate was a unanimous decision, an affirmation of his leadership qualities and his dedication to upholding the party’s manifesto.

Party delegates had described Onyekaonwu as principled politician committed to providing genuine parliamentary representation, free from personal or economic encumbrances.

In his acceptance speech, Onyekaonwu emphasized his role as a servant of the people rather than a wealthy figure driven by private interests.

“I remain the only candidate who will provide true parliamentary representation and speak the needs of the people to power.

“I am not a billionaire who can ignore voices because of personal or economic interests,” he stated.

The AA hopeful expressed gratitude to party members and leadership for ensuring credible and peaceful process, describing his candidacy as the result of a collective effort.

He pledged to deliver quality representation to the people of Anambra South Senatorial District.

State Chairman, Sir Nobert Okoli commended the unity and loyalty of party members, noting that democracy thrives when “the majority have their way and the minority their say.”

Onyekaonwu’s candidacy is seen as a significant boost to the AA’s prospects in the by-election, given his reputation as a principled, people-focused leader.
