Police bust criminal camp

…presence of fresh blood stains around the criminal camp suggests that more criminals may have been injured or killed during the gun battle.

Operatives of the Anambra State Police Command, in collaboration with other security agencies, have successfully dismantled a notorious criminal camp in Agulu-ezechukwu, Aguata Local Government Area of the state, iNews Times reports.

The operation, which took place in the early hours of June 5, 2025, resulted in the neutralization of one armed hoodlum and the recovery of several stolen vehicles and other items.

According to SP Tochukwu Ikenga, Police Public Relations Officer, Anambra State Police Command, the joint security operatives comprising the Department of State Service, Army, Navy, Civil Defence, and Anambra State Vigilante members, launched a well-coordinated assault on the criminal camp after gathering intelligence on its location.

The operation was intense, with a seven-hour gun duel between the security forces and the armed hoodlums.

Despite the fierce resistance, the joint security force managed to overrun the camp, neutralizing one of the notorious criminals.

The security operatives recovered a significant amount of stolen property, including one Ash Toyota Sienna with registration number EKY 03 FF, one unregistered white Hilux, and one motorcycle.

Several household and kitchen items, such as pots, gallons, groceries, sleeping mattresses, Manchincal tools, clothes, and other incriminating materials were also recovered from the criminal camp.

The area where the operation took place is still being combed by the security operatives, who are on the lookout for other fleeing suspects.

The presence of fresh blood stains in the criminal camp suggests that more criminals may have been injured or killed during the gun battle.

The Anambra State Police Command has assured the public that further developments will be communicated in due course.

The successful operation is a testament to the command’s commitment to tackling insecurity in the state and restoring peace to its communities.

The police command’s efforts to rid the state of criminal elements have been commendable, and this latest operation is a significant step in that direction.

The people of Anambra State can be rest assured that the police and other security agencies are working tirelessly to ensure their safety and security.

In a statement made available to iNews Times, the police command urged residents to continue providing valuable information that would aid in the apprehension of fleeing suspects and other criminal elements still at large.

The command also assured the public of its continued efforts to enhance security measures across the state, with a view to creating a safe and secure environment for all.
