…as Opta SuperComputer Model Deals Liverpool Major Blow.
London, United Kingdom — The iNews Times reports that Liverpool’s hopes in the Champions League qualification race have suffered a major setback after the Opta SuperComputer predicted the club could miss out on a place in next season’s UEFA Champions League.
The projection comes after Liverpool’s disappointing 2–1 defeat to bottom-placed Wolves, a result that significantly weakened their chances of finishing inside the Premier League’s top five.
The loss placed added pressure on the Reds as the battle for Champions League places intensifies among several clubs.
In other results affecting the Champions League qualification race, Chelsea strengthened their push with a convincing 4–1 victory over Aston Villa to secure all three points.
Manchester United, however, suffered a late defeat to Newcastle United despite the Magpies being reduced to ten men during the match.
According to Opta SuperComputer’s statistical projections, Aston Villa currently have the strongest probability of qualifying for the competition, with an 80 per cent chance of securing a Champions League place.
Manchester United are given a 76.2 per cent probability of qualification, while Chelsea’s chances stand at 65.7 per cent.
Liverpool, meanwhile, are projected to have a 63.1 per cent chance, leaving their Champions League qualification hopes hanging in the balance as the Premier League season approaches its decisive stages.
