TARABA, NIGERIA- The iNews Times | Public outrage has spread across Taraba State following reports that a housewife, Ramatu Abbas, allegedly slashed the face of a 17-year-old girl, Iwasen Terhemba, with a razor.
The attack was said to have been driven by the woman’s suspicion that her husband had an interest in the teenager.
The incident reportedly occurred in Donga town, Donga Local Government Area, and has sparked widespread outrage, with residents demanding swift justice.
Sources disclosed that the teenager, who resides with her guardian, Jemila Wanga, had on several occasions been approached by Ramatu’s husband but consistently rejected his advances, insisting she had no interest in him.
Acting on suspicion, the wife allegedly went to the guardian’s residence in her absence and used a razor to disfigure the girl’s face.
Confirming the incident, the spokesperson of the Taraba State Police Command, Victor Mshelizah, told journalists that the matter was already under investigation.
“The suspect is currently in custody while the victim is receiving medical care. The case will be charged to court soon,” he said.
Residents have urged the authorities to ensure that justice is done, stressing that firm action is necessary to prevent similar incidents in the future.
