…the PDP insisted that despite what it described as defections driven by pressure and inducement from the ruling party, Nigerians have continued to reject the APC.
ABUJA, NIGERIA- The iNews Times | The People’s Democratic Party (PDP) has alleged that the recent defection of some of its political office holders was orchestrated by the All Progressives Congress (APC), according to its Tanimu Turaki-led National Working Committee (NWC).
In a statement issued yesterday by its National Publicity Secretary, Ini Ememobong, the Peoples Democratic Party made the claim while responding to remarks by the APC’s spokesman, Felix Morka.
Morka had reportedly argued that the Peoples Democratic Party could no longer function effectively as a political party due to its internal crises and the defection of many of its members to the APC.
However, the PDP insisted that despite what it described as defections driven by pressure and inducement from the ruling party, Nigerians have continued to reject the APC. The party stated that this rejection is reflected in the APC’s struggles with membership registration, alleging that some state governors resorted to using databases from state empowerment programmes to boost their registers.
The PDP further cited the recent disruption of the “City Boys” event in Owerri as a sign of growing resistance against the APC nationwide.
It also criticised Morka, comparing his remarks to propaganda, and warned that such rhetoric could have damaging consequences, drawing parallels with historical instances of misinformation and political manipulation.
