…the National Elective Convention is expected to produce new members of the party’s National Working Committee (NWC).
ABUJA, NIGERIA – The iNews Times reports that the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has announced a rescheduling of its much-anticipated National Elective Convention, originally slated for August 2025. The new date for the convention is now November 2025.
This development was disclosed by the PDP National Publicity Secretary, Debo Ologunagba, during a press briefing on Thursday in Abuja, shortly after the conclusion of the party’s 101st National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting.
According to Ologunagba, the party has also decided to relocate the venue from Kano to Ibadan, the Oyo State capital. He said the decision to shift both the date and venue was reached after extensive deliberations by the NEC.
“The NEC, after thorough consultations and strategic considerations, has resolved that the party’s National Elective Convention will now hold in November 2025, in Ibadan, Oyo State,” Ologunagba stated.
While he did not provide further details on the reasons behind the changes, party sources suggest that logistical and political factors may have influenced the decision.
The National Elective Convention is expected to produce new members of the party’s National Working Committee (NWC) and set the tone for PDP’s preparations ahead of the 2027 general elections.
More details are expected to emerge in the coming days.
