‎Pit Disaster in Kano: Multiple Casualties Reported

‎…Eyewitnesses said the pit gave way suddenly, trapping many workers beneath the earth.

‎‎KANO, NIGERIA- The iNews Times | Pit collapse in Ridawa village, Ghari Local Government Area of Kano State, tragically buried several brick workers.

‎The incident reportedly took place in the early hours of Wednesday while the workers were excavating soil for brick production. Eyewitnesses said the pit gave way suddenly, trapping many workers beneath the earth.

‎Fears are mounting that several of those trapped may have lost their lives, while others are believed to have sustained injuries of varying severity. Rescue operations are ongoing, with locals and emergency personnel working to reach those still buried under the debris.

‎As of the latest updates, some victims remain trapped, raising serious concerns about their survival. Sani Bala, the House of Representatives member for Ghari/Tsanyawa Federal Constituency, confirmed the incident, noting that around ten individuals are believed to be trapped underground. He urged prompt government intervention to rescue the victims and prevent further casualties.

‎Meanwhile, the Public Relations Officer of the Kano State Fire Service, Saminu Abdullahi, stated that the service has not yet received an official report of the incident. He added, “We have not received any report on the incident. Once we get the details, we will provide updates.”
