EBONYI, NIGERIA- The iNews Times | An Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP), Ogbon-Inu Taiwo Popoola, attached to the Ebonyi State Command, reportedly collapsed and died during a management meeting at the command headquarters in Abakaliki.

Sources disclosed that the incident happened at about 10:30 a.m. while a meeting was ongoing in the office of the Commissioner of Police.

Popoola was immediately rushed to the police clinic, but all attempts to revive him proved unsuccessful. His remains were later deposited at the mortuary of the Alex Ekwueme Federal University Teaching Hospital (AE-FUTHA), Abakaliki.

Confirming the development, the Ebonyi State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Joshua Ukandu, described the incident as a tragic loss to the command.

Ukandu explained that ACP Popoola, who headed the State Intelligence Department (SID), suddenly developed breathing complications and began gasping for air during the meeting. He said the officer was promptly taken to the Clinic, where medical personnel made frantic efforts to resuscitate him, but he was eventually pronounced dead by doctors.

He added that the late ACP Popoola was a committed and professional officer who served the Nigeria Police Force with dedication.
