The Enugu State Police Command has announced the arrest of a 20-year-old armed robbery suspect, Nwachukwu Chukwuma, in the Thinkers Corner area of the state, iNews Times reports.
According to the state’s Police Public Relations Officers, SP Daniel Ndukwe, the suspect was apprehended on June 1, 2025, around 11:30 p.m. after police operatives attached to the Thinkers Corner Division, in collaboration with members of the Neighbourhood Watch, noticed him loitering suspiciously.
Ndukwe said, a search conducted on the suspect led to the recovery of a locally made pistol loaded with one live cartridge.
The police are currently conducting an investigation to determine the suspect’s criminal intentions and potential involvement in armed robbery cases in the area, he noted.
Commissioner of Police, CP Mamman Bitrus Giwa, has however ordered a meticulous investigation to identify and apprehend the suspect’s accomplices and recover additional exhibits.
The arrest is a testament to the effectiveness of the collaboration between the police and the Neighbourhood Watch in maintaining security in the state.
The Enugu State Police Command has assured the public that the investigation will be thorough, and all those involved in criminal activities will be brought to justice, iNews Times reports.
