KANO, NIGERIA – The iNews Times | The Kano State Police Command has arrested two armed robbery suspected who allegedly stole a Ford Escape SUV belonging to an Air Force officer during a violent attack at his residence in Karu, Abuja.

According to police reports, the robbery occurred at about 3:15 a.m. on October 29, 2025, when the suspects stormed the officer’s home, carting away money, mobile phones, and his vehicle at gunpoint.

Intelligence gathered by the police revealed that the suspects were heading towards Kano State after the attack. Acting swiftly on a tip-off, operatives of the Anti-Kidnapping Squad intercepted the stolen vehicle along the Kano–Zaria Expressway, near Salbas Filling Station.

A police statement said the suspects opened fire on the officers but were subdued after a brief gun battle. The operation led to the arrest of Adamu Adam Abubakar, a resident of Zoo Road, Kano, and Umar Bello from Nasarawa Dirkania in Kaduna State.

“Both suspects were occupants of the recovered vehicle. Unfortunately, one Dan Malam (surname unknown) escaped with a pistol and some of the robbed valuables and is currently being trailed,” the police stated.

The Commissioner of Police, CP Ibrahim Adamu Bakori, commended the joint efforts of the Intelligence Unit of the Force Headquarters in Abuja and the Kano Command for their swift coordination, which led to the arrest and recovery.

Bakori urged members of the public to remain vigilant and provide timely information to law enforcement agencies to aid ongoing efforts to curb armed robbery and other criminal activities in the state.

“We call on residents to continue sharing credible intelligence with the police to help combat crime in Kano and beyond,” he said.

The police confirmed that the recovered vehicle is being processed for return to the rightful owner, while efforts are ongoing to apprehend the fleeing suspect, Dan Malam.
