The iNews Times reports that the Police in Anambra State have successfully rescued two children who were abducted in Ozubulu, Ekwusigo Local Government Area of the state.

The state’s Police Public Relations Officer, SP Tochukwu Ikenga in a statement made available to iNews Times said two suspects have been arrested in connection with the crime.

The incident occurred on June 12, 2025, when the mother of the victims reported that an unknown person had taken away two of her children on their way to her shop along Nwafor Junction, Eziora, Ozubulu.

According to the police, one of the children managed to escape and narrated the ordeal to their mother, who quickly alerted the authorities.

The operatives attached to the Ozubulu Divisional Headquarters sprang into action, tracking down the suspects and rescuing the children.

The suspects, Onyedika Daniel, 19, and Nkechi Onuwa, 25, were arrested at Okpuno-Oba, Idemili South Local Government Area.

During interrogation, Onyedika admitted to the crime and revealed that he had handed over the children to Nkechi Onuwa, his partner in the criminal plan.

Ikenga said the children, aged 3 and 5 years, have been safely reunited with their parents at Ozubulu.

The Command is expanding its investigation to arrest other members of the syndicate involved in the crime.

The state’s Commissioner of Police, CP Ikioye Orutugu has commended the operatives for their swift response and professionalism in rescuing the children.

The suspects will be charged to court upon conclusion of the investigation, Ikenga noted.

This achievement showcases the Command’s commitment to protecting vulnerable members of society as well as tackling crimes against children.

The command is working tirelessly to ensure the safety and security of the citizens, and this success is a testament to their dedication and hard work, iNews Times reports.
