The iNews Times brings you report of a disturbing incident that reportedly happened at Blacbox nightclub in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, where two young women claim they were assaulted by a prominent realtor, Maduba Okechi Christian, and his security details.
The incident, which occurred on Thursday, has sparked outrage on social media, with many calling for the arrest and prosecution of the accused.
Narrating their ordeal, the victims, Thonia Okoye and Juliet Obasi, said the horrifying incident began when Maduba approached their reserved table and asked to join them, but they refused.
An altercation ensued after Maduba noticed one of the women making a video while dancing and ordered her to stop. The situation escalated, and the women claim they were beaten, stripped, and left with serious injuries.
Okoye narrated her ordeal in a video posted on TikTok, stating, “All of a sudden, this certain man called Ceemore Maduba came to sit at our reserved seat, and my friend was making a video. He hit my friend’s phone, saying she was not meant to make a video, and he started threatening us.”
She alleged that Maduba and his friends broke bottles, injured her friend, and broke another friend’s tooth.
Okoye claimed she was dragged downstairs, stripped naked, and beaten mercilessly.
Obasi, in an interview with Saturday PUNCH, corroborated Okoye’s account, stating that Maduba smashed a bottle on her head, leaving her bleeding profusely.
She alleged that the realtor attempted to stab her and accused the nightclub’s management and security personnel of complacency.
“I kept asking the waitress to call the manager to intervene because this was a reserved table, but shockingly, the waitress was more interested in greeting him respectfully,” Obasi said.
The ugly incident has generated widespread outrage on social media, with many calling for justice.
The iNews Times learnt that the police command has invited the club manager and the suspect for questioning.
The club owner, Greatcool Ejekwu, popularly known as “Datfairboy,” condemned the incident, describing it as “unfortunate and unacceptable.” He stated,
“The incident at Blackbox is a very sad and pathetic one. No human being has the right to inflict physical injury on anybody, especially when nobody posed any threat.”
As the investigation continues, the victims are seeking justice and demanding that the suspect be brought to book.
Obasi expressed her trauma, “I’m traumatised. Going out as a lady in this country feels like a crime. I have lost money, jewellery, and even my friend’s clothes were torn,” she said.
