Presidency hit Peter Obi

…Peter Obi primarily driven by a desire to grab power, lacking a genuine alternative agenda — Presidency.

The iNews Times reports that the Presidency has responded to criticism from former Labour Party presidential candidate Peter Obi, with Special Adviser to President Bola Tinubu on Policy Communication, Daniel Bwala, describing Obi as a “shallow” personality lacking in-depth knowledge of economics and governance.

Bwala in a statement posted on his official X account, reacted to Obi’s recent interview on Arise TV, where Obi expressed agreement with Tinubu’s economic policies, including the removal of fuel subsidies and unification of foreign exchange rates.

However, Obi suggested that he would have implemented these policies in a more “organised manner” if he were president.

Bwala expressed surprise that Obi could agree with the policies, yet claim he would have done it better.

He accused Obi of playing with words and failing to provide concrete alternatives.

Bwala emphasized that Obi and other opposition figures are primarily driven by a desire to grab power, lacking a genuine alternative agenda.

Obi had challenged Tinubu to account for the billions of revenue saved from subsidy removal, questioning where the funds were invested.

He argued that while there was nothing wrong with removing the fuel subsidy, the Federal Government’s approach was “haphazard” and lacked organisation.

Obi maintained that his manifesto outlines steps he would have taken to remove the subsidy in an organised manner, allowing for investments in critical infrastructure.

He questioned the utilisation of the saved funds, asking where they were invested in critical areas of development.

Bwala’s response highlights the ongoing debate about economic policies and governance in Nigeria, with the Presidency and opposition figures engaging in a war of words over the best approach to managing the economy, the iNews Times reports.
