The iNews Times reports that the Rotary International Club of Onitsha Metropolis has conferred a Professional Award of Excellence on Dr. Chioma Awuzie, Rector of the Federal Polytechnic Oko, in recognition of her exceptional leadership and contributions to education.
Also, a Former House of Assembly Aspirant under the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), Chief Ben Ekwerekwu, was bestowed with Community Service Award.
Presenting the awards to the recipients during the Club’s Official Handover ceremony at 1890 Residence, Onitsha, Outgoing President of the Club, Rtn Oby Arinze, said the honour was part of efforts to recognise individuals who have made significant societal contributions
While noting that Rotary International was committed to acknowledging excellence across various sectors, she explained that Dr Awuzie award was based on her Superlative performance within 100 days in office
She praised the Rector for her dedication, hardwork, achievements and positive impact in the polytechnic, adding that she had impressed with her leadership capacity
Rotarian Arinze, further described her tenure as the president of the Club as eventful with lots of achievements and success stories, highlighting key milestones in service, membership growth and community development.
“It is indeed a glorious end to a beautiful beginning.The tenure of my leadership was filled wonderful opportunities. We explored endless opportunities to offer undiluted services to humanity. We reached out to humanity with a touch of kindness”
Responding, Oko Poly Rector, Awuzie expressed gratitude for the recognition, describing it as a motivation to do more.
Appreciating the honour, she called on women to always manifest their impact wherever they found themselves.
In his acceptance speech, Incoming President of Rotary International Club, Dr Onochie Ntomchukwu, expressed gratitude for the confidence bestowed on him and his vision for a dynamic, inclusive and impactful club.
Highlights of the event included award presentations, recognition of birthday celebrants as well as official handover ceremony.
