A critic of Ahmed Aliyu, the Sokoto State Governor, Hamdiyyah Sharif has been declared missing, The iNews Times reports.
Her Lawyer, Abba Hikima made this disclosure on Wednesday via a post on his official Facebook handle.
“Hamdiyya has been missing since 10:00 am yesterday (Tuesday).
“She left home to buy food stuff in Sokoto and has not been seen since,” Hikima wrote.
The lawyer noted that the police in Sokoto State has been informed of the development.
She had faced charges of using abusive language against Governor Aliyu and “inciting disturbance”.
It was learnt that Sharif was first arrested in November last year and detained but was subsequently released.
On 13 November 2024, she was abducted by armed men while on her way to collect her phone from a charging point.
Sharif was reportedly beaten, and thereafter thrown out of a moving tricycle and left with severe injuries.
She was again arrested for use of abusive language and criticisms against constituted authority in the state in a TikTok post advocating for displaced people. She was charged in a Sharia court.
