Soludo Marks 65th Birthday with Acts of Service, Not Celebration

…“I have been graciously blessed by God in every way” – Soludo.

By Mazi Ejimofor Opara

AWKA, NIGERIA – The iNews Times reports that instead of clinking glasses or cutting a ceremonial cake, Anambra State Governor, Prof. Chukwuma Charles Soludo, marked his 65th birthday with a quiet yet powerful expression of service visiting those often forgotten by society.

On Monday, the Governor undertook an unscheduled tour of four key institutions: Nawfia Neuropsychiatric Hospital, Onitsha Correctional Centre, St. Charles Borromeo Specialist Hospital, and Iyienu Teaching Hospital in Ogidi. The visits, devoid of political fanfare, underscored his philosophy that leadership must be rooted in humanity.

“I have been graciously blessed by God in every way,” Soludo told a small gathering during one of the visits. “Asking Him to bless me further would amount to ingratitude. What’s left is to do His work – to touch lives and offer hope.”

His words resonated deeply in the wards and halls he walked through, listening to patients, shaking hands with medical staff, and spending time with inmates. Witnesses described the atmosphere as “intimate” and “genuinely moving.”

At each stop, Soludo offered more than words. He encouraged, empathized, and in many cases, quietly supported the institutions’ efforts. His interactions were marked by simplicity, empathy, and a deeply personal connection to the people.

“These people are a few of my favorite beings,” he said, reflecting on the experience. “They remind me of why we must leave the world better than we met it.”

Governor Soludo, who has served in academia, finance, and now politics, is no stranger to transformation. But his 65th birthday may be among his most personal and poignant statements yet – a reminder that true leadership is not measured by power or pageantry, but by presence, compassion, and service to others.
