…Soludo has won all 19 local government areas declared, leaving his closest opponents far behind.
AWKA, NIGERIA – The iNews Times | Governor Charles Chukwuma Soludo of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) is cruising toward a decisive victory as the Anambra State governorship election nears completion, with official results from 19 out of 21 local government areas showing a commanding lead.
Before the polls, the contest was widely projected to be a three-horse race among APGA, the All Progressives Congress (APC), and the Labour Party (LP). However, early results have defied expectations, with Soludo securing overwhelming margins across the state, including in Nnewi South, the home local government area of the APC candidate, Nicholas Ukachukwu.
According to results announced so far by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Soludo has won all 19 local government areas declared, leaving his closest opponents far behind. The declared LGAs include Dunukofia, Njikoka, Ogbaru, Awka North, Awka South, Orumba North, Orumba South, Aguata, Ekwusigo, Nnewi North, Nnewi South, Anaocha, Idemili North, Idemili South, Onitsha North, Onitsha South, Oyi, Ayamelum, and Anambra East.
INEC officials announced that only two local government areas – Ihiala and Anambra West, remain to be collated, with the process expected to resume after a one-hour break scheduled to end by 6 a.m.
Soludo’s anticipated victory would mark a historic milestone, making him the third consecutive APGA governor to lead Anambra State for two terms after Mr. Peter Obi and Chief Willie Obiano.
With the APGA stronghold holding firm and results reflecting overwhelming public support, Soludo appears set to continue his administration’s vision of sustainable development and reform-driven governance in Anambra.
