Mrs Nonye Soludo and Senator Uche Ekwunife

…in a move rarely seen in Nigerian political discourse, Nonye Soludo threw down the gauntlet, challenging Senator Ekwunife to two public acts.

AWKA, NIGERIA – The iNews Times | In an extraordinary turn of events, the wife of Anambra State Governor, Mrs. Nonye Frances Soludo, has issued a bold and unprecedented challenge to Senator Uche Ekwunife: appear before God at a Catholic cathedral to swear a chastity oath and subject your children to a paternity test or face the consequences of your allegations.

This comes in response to what the First Lady described as a “malicious lie” by the senator, who reportedly accused her of engaging in an affair with the late former governor of Anambra State, Dr. Chinwoke Mbadinuju, a claim she vehemently denies.

“In my 55 years on planet earth, I have known ONLY ONE MAN – Chukwuma Soludo. I married him as a virgin, and my fidelity to him in 33 years of marriage is ironclad,” she wrote in a seven-point statement that has since gone viral.

In a move rarely seen in Nigerian political discourse, Nonye Soludo threw down the gauntlet, challenging Senator Ekwunife to two public acts:

1. A Chastity Oath Before God

The First Lady proposed that both women, along with their children, appear before the Blessed Sacrament in a Catholic cathedral to swear an oath of fidelity.

“I challenge her for both of us to swear an oath of fidelity and chastity… I will swear (with my children) that in my 55 years on earth, I have known only one man – Chukwuma Soludo,” she declared. “On your part, you should also swear that since you got married, you have never cheated on your husband.”

She said the oath must be taken between now and mid-October 2025.

2. A Paternity Test in London

Taking things a step further, Mrs. Soludo offered to fund a full paternity test for both families at three independent hospitals in London, to eliminate any potential bias.

“To avoid stories in Nigerian hospitals, let us do it in London. I will pay the travel and test costs. If after the tests your husband is confirmed to be the father of ALL your children, I will congratulate you with a cash award,” she said.

Mrs. Soludo’s statement was issued in reaction to what she described as a pattern of political attacks from Senator Ekwunife, who she claims has a history of targeting the families of her male political rivals.

“She is like a mad dog with no shame or character. I understand this is her strategy with every man she has a political fight with, going after their wives,” she said.

Refuting the senator’s claim that she once worked under the late Gov. Mbadinuju, Mrs. Soludo clarified:

“I never met Dr. Mbadinuju in my life. I have never worked for anyone. Even as First Lady, I have no government budget. I have built my businesses independently.”

She has given Ekwunife a 72-hour ultimatum to publicly recant the allegation and apologize, failing which she says legal action will follow.

“I will still as a Christian give her a chance to repent and ensure restitution… But if she fails, I will take every step necessary to ensure justice.”

As of the time of filing this report, Senator Uche Ekwunife has yet to publicly respond to the challenge.

With the political temperature rising in Anambra, observers are watching closely to see whether this battle between two of the state’s most visible women will head for the courts or the cathedral.
