Suicide Bomber hits Borno

…the suicide bomber invaded a gathering  around 10pm and detonated an explosive device.

The iNews Times reports that a devastating suicide bombing incident occurred at a local food joint in Konduga Local Government Area of Borno State on Friday, when a suicide bomber struck and killed over 10 people and injured scores of others.

It was learnt that the incident happened around 10pm, the suicide bomber invaded the gathering and detonated an explosive device.

According to the spokesperson for the Borno State Police Command, ASP Nahum Daso, the attack resulted in multiple casualties, with over 10 fatalities confirmed.

“Yesterday, around 22:00 in Konduga, just unfortunately, somebody invaded a gathering with a bomb, killing over 10 persons,” Daso said in a statement.

Daso said the police command has deployed EOD experts, military, and other security agencies to the town to restore peace and order.

An investigation into the incident is currently underway to uncover details behind the attack. “Investigation is ongoing to ascertain what actually or really happened. The detail is still scanty,” Daso said.

According to local sources, the suicide bomber was burnt beyond recognition, while several others who were injured have been taken to the hospital.

“It is a busy joint where people come together, buy food and eat. There are passersby and others. Everything was going normal until a loud sound was heard. It was a devastating moment. Many people died,” a local source said.

This incident highlights the ongoing security challenges in Borno State, which has been plagued by insurgency and terrorism in recent years.

The state government and security agencies are working to prevent such attacks and bring perpetrators to justice.

As the investigation continues, residents of Konduga and surrounding areas remain on the edge, hoping for peace and stability to return to their communities, The iNews Times reports.
