Abuja, Nigeria — The iNews Times | President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Friday held a closed-door meeting with Bala Mohammed at the Presidential Villa, Abuja, as part of a Bauchi security briefing focused on recent disturbances in the state.
The iNews Times gathered that the governor visited the State House to update the president on the security challenges affecting parts of Bauchi, including the growing threat posed by bandits.
During the meeting, Bala Mohammed reportedly highlighted the disturbing activities of armed groups in Alkaleri Local Government Area, stressing the need for swift federal intervention to restore calm and prevent further escalation.
Addressing State House correspondents after the engagement, the governor also spoke on recent political developments, particularly defections from the Peoples Democratic Party to the All Progressives Congress.
He maintained that politicians have the constitutional freedom to associate with any political platform of their choice but reaffirmed his decision to remain in the opposition party despite the ongoing defections.
