ABUJA, NIGERIA – The iNews Times | President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has terminated the appointment of Fegho John Umunubo, who served as the Special Assistant to the President on Digital and Creative Economy in the Office of the Vice President.
The dismissal, which takes immediate effect, was announced on Monday via an official statement issued by the Director of Information and Public Relations at the State House, Mr. Abiodun Oladunjoye.
“Stakeholders and constituents of the digital and creative economy, at home and abroad, as well as the general public are hereby notified that Fegho John Umunubo… has been disengaged with immediate effect,” the statement read.
The presidency made it clear that Umunubo no longer holds any position or role within the current administration, urging caution among those who may still attempt to associate with him in official capacities.
“Kindly note that he no longer represents this administration in any capacity. Henceforth, anyone who interfaces with him in the name of President Tinubu’s administration does so at his or her own risk,” the statement warned.
While no official reason was provided for the sudden dismissal, the terse announcement signals a decisive move by the presidency to distance itself from the former aide.
The digital and creative economy sector has been a key focus of the Tinubu administration’s youth-driven development agenda, making the position previously held by Umunubo strategically important within the broader policy landscape.
With this disengagement, attention now shifts to who will be appointed next to drive Nigeria’s ambitions in the fast-growing digital and creative industries under the Office of the Vice President.
