…Five trucks unloading cows on the Adeniji Adele Bridge, were also impounded – LASTMA

The Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) has launched a crackdown on traffic offenders across the state, iNews Times reports.

It was learnt that on the first day of the operation, the officials impounded 235 vehicles.

The exercise, which began in areas such as Oyingbo, Oshodi, Adeniji Adele, Jibowu, and Iddo, aims to bring sanity to Lagos roads and improve the city’s appearance.

LASTMA General Manager, Olalekan Bakare-Oki, in statement on their official X handle said the vehicles were seized for various traffic offenses, including parking on walkways, blocking traffic, creating illegal bus stops, and ignoring traffic laws.

He warned that the operation would not tolerate lawlessness on Lagos roads and that offenders would face the law.

“We will no longer tolerate any form of lawlessness on our roads. All impounded vehicles will be taken to court, and offenders will face the law,” Bakare-Oki said.

Five trucks that were unloading cows and animal waste on the Adeniji Adele Bridge, were also impounded. He explained that such could damage the bridge and pose a risk to people.

“The drivers were also arrested and would be prosecuted,” he said.

Ten miscreants who were disrupting traffic and engaging in illegal activities were also apprehended.

Bakare-Oki stated that the clean-up operation would continue across all parts of Lagos, including Ikeja, Badagry, Ikorodu, Lagos Island, and Epe.

He warned that LASTMA is now operating under a zero-tolerance policy for traffic offenses, and any vehicle parked illegally or driving against traffic would be dealt with immediately.
