…troops engaged the terrorists in an intense firefight.
The iNews Times reports that troops of Operation Hadin Kai have successfully eliminated 10 Boko Haram/ISWAP insurgents in a recent operation in the southern Lake Chad region of Borno State, near the Nigerian-Cameroon border.
The operation, conducted between Rann and Gamboru Ngala, resulted in the recovery of a significant cache of arms and ammunition, including anti-aircraft ammunition suspected to have been looted from the Cameroonian Defence Force.
According to Acting Deputy Director, Army Public Relations Headquarters, Theatre Command Operation HADIN KAI, Reuben Kovangiya, the troops launched a series of offensives aimed at ridding the North East of ISWAP/Boko Haram terrorists.
During the operation at Manawaji, troops engaged the terrorists in an intense firefight, ultimately neutralizing 10 insurgents who had been disrupting peace in the area.
The troops recovered a large cache of arms and ammunition, including anti-aircraft ammunition.
This significant recovery suggests that the insurgents had access to sophisticated weaponry, potentially obtained through previous attacks on Cameroonian forces.
The Nigerian Army has reiterated its commitment to sustaining the offensive in the North East region.
Kovangiya assured that the troops would continue to deny terrorists freedom of action in the area and sustain the offensive against them in the entire North East Region, in line with the directives of the Chief of Defence Staff.
Confirming the operation’s success, Major General Abdulsalam Abubakar, Theatre Commander of the North-East Joint Task Force, stated that troops are intensifying sustained operations to clear the Southern lakes in border communities.
He commended the efforts of the soldiers, stressing that the recent deployment of fresh fighting equipment had greatly boosted troop morale.
The military continues to strengthen its presence along Lake Chad and surrounding border communities to prevent further infiltration by insurgents.
This operation demonstrates the Nigerian Army’s commitment to combating terrorism and ensuring regional security, The iNews Times reports.
